The evolving state of food security in Nigeria amidst the COVID-19 pandemic – A review

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a variety of challenges to Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, especially area health protection, food security, and availability. Food security is concept that encompasses availability accessibility safe nutritious foods everyone dependent on maintenance supply chain. status developing previously was problematic, been worsened by through several fronts including disruption chain, reduced agricultural output as result global lockdown, lack access facilities products, such fertilisers, manpower, restrictive policies. These factors have generally resulted scarcity price inflations, which increasingly threaten political economic stability households within country, leading an insecure future for people. This review examines how Nigeria affected effects lockdown changing business environment farmers’ production operations marketing activities. It further evaluates pandemics impacts agro-industrial projects governments’ efforts making agriculture sector more sustainable. Strategies improve local production, availability, interventions, financial incentives/grants farmers, revival moribund agencies, encouraging processing are explored.
